North Korea Condemns Japan’s Report

(MENAFN) North Korea has denounced Japan, calling its recent actions a "grave provocation" against its sovereignty after Tokyo’s yearly Diplomatic Bluebook voiced strong apprehension about Pyongyang’s nuclear and missile activities, according to reports released Wednesday by a news agency.

The criticism was delivered Tuesday by a department head at the Institute for Japan Studies, an organization linked to North Korea’s Foreign Ministry. This reaction followed Japan’s Foreign Ministry labeling the North’s ongoing nuclear and missile development as "serious concerns" in its annual policy document published the previous week.

"I cannot overlook its move to say this or that about the DPRK's exercise of its right to legitimate self-defense, while dreaming of shaking the position of a nuclear weapons state specified in the Constitution of the DPRK," the statement declared, as cited by the news agency.

The acronym DPRK refers to North Korea’s official designation, the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea.

In addition, the statement noted that "Japan termed the DPRK's measures for bolstering up its defense capabilities...'a grave and urgent threat' and 'a clear and serious challenge' and made an anachronistic and evasive assertion like 'complete, verifiable and irreversible dismantlement,'" further intensifying the rhetoric between the two nations.
